Two Locked Metal Doors in the Paved Courtyard

This may have been where Charlie Kirk was at. The ground in the UVU courtyard where Charlie Kirk sat under the tent on September 10, 2025 was excavated and paved over within days. A photo posted on September 28, 2026 shows that the spot still has two metal doors, each with a lock, set flush into the new pavers.
The post
According to @billiewebbb on X (Billie Webb, September 28, 2026), in case anybody was not aware, the site (despite being excavated and paved over) still has 2 metal doors (with locks). The post drew about 34,000 views and 1,100 likes within its first day.
The photo shows:
- Two rectangular steel diamond-plate doors set into a concrete frame in the grey paver surface.
- A brass padlock lying open on the nearer door, with a lock hole in the plate beside it.
- Large round concrete planters on both sides, the same kind that line the covered area of the courtyard.
- New, even pavers all around the doors, consistent with the paving done after the shooting.
People have covered an entry to an area or tunnel under there
These doors are not a new discovery. People have covered that there was an entry to an area or tunnel under there since the first weeks after the assassination:
- Ian Carroll, September 29, 2025. Broadcasting from UVU, Ian Carroll wrote that he "saw inside (and have video inside) the trap door" (post).
- Trap door at the shot location. Posts amplified by @HustleBitch_ flagged a trap door at the spot where Charlie was hit, alongside rapid rebuilding of the site. See Public Speaking Event at UVU.
- The tunnel roof was reportedly re-mudded. Threads on the courtyard work say the crew stripped the grass, poured a new base, and re-mudded the tunnel roof behind the tent. See Site Alteration Evidence and Ceiling Mudded / Painted.
- A hatch in the ceiling above the passage. A separate frame shows a security camera next to a utility hatch set into the ceiling of the covered passage behind the tent.
- A real pedestrian tunnel runs under Campus Drive north of the courtyard. It appears in the official movement timeline (see UVU Courtyard).
Why the doors matter
Investigators on X have largely concluded that Charlie Kirk was killed by an explosive at his microphone, not by a rifle shot from the roof (Microphone — The Exploding Mic Theory). Under that reading, anything directly beneath his chair is part of the scene:
- Soil was removed before anyone could test it. About ten inches of dirt reportedly left the courtyard before the pavers went down. See also Dirt Removed.
- The pavers went in fast. Contractor Dan Merrell said on camera he was told the work had to be finished by Monday (Pavers — Merrell's Account, Hardscape Specialties).
- The doors survived the repaving. Whatever is under them was kept accessible, and locked, while everything around it was dug out and replaced.
- No public record says what is down there. No drawing, work order, or inspection of the space under these doors has been released.
Open questions
- What is under the two doors: a utility vault, an irrigation or electrical box, a service space, or an entry to the tunnel system?
- Was the space opened, searched, or sampled by investigators on September 10 or after?
- Who holds the keys, and who opened the space between September 10 and the repaving?
- Is the space connected to the covered passage or the tunnel behind the tent?
- Why was the soil around the doors excavated and hauled away while the doors themselves stayed in place?
Ordinary outdoor venues often have service vaults, and these doors may turn out to be one. That is exactly why the records matter: a facilities drawing or work order would settle it. The Charlie Kirk Investigation Laws would require that kind of record to be released.
