What This Video Is

Eighteen seconds of hobbyist ballistics content, not case material. It is a screen recording of someone else's video rather than an original: at 0:16 a mobile push notification from a newspaper app slides across the top-left of the frame, which tells you the capture was made by pointing a recorder at a phone or by recording a phone screen. The archived filename is a bare eleven-character media identifier with no author, no post URL and no date, so the original poster is not recorded here.

It was filed into the ballistics folder of this investigation's capture mirror as reference footage: an illustration of what a rifle round does to a head-shaped gelatin target.

What Is Said

Only one line, and it comes at the transition into the replay. A male voice, casual and instructional, says: "All right, so now we're gonna throw it in about a 10% slow-mo for you. This is gonna look super cool. Now, what happened was when the..." The transcript ends there, cut off with the clip.

That single sentence is worth noting for what it establishes and what it does not. It gives the replay rate — roughly ten percent of real time — which matters if anyone tries to time the deformation in the footage. It gives nothing else: no calibre, no range, no load, no target composition.

The man firing is not identified here and has no connection to this investigation; he appears only as the operator of a hobby test.

Keep the limits of this clip in view. It is a bare gelatin skull on a stand in open air — no scalp, no skin, no soft tissue, no clothing, no backing medium and no calibrated block. Gelatin skulls of this type shatter dramatically by design; that is what makes them popular content. Nothing in the footage licenses a comparison to a specific wound, and the clip makes no such comparison itself. It belongs on this site as a visual reference for the scale of high-velocity rifle energy, and as a reminder of how easily that visual gets recruited into arguments it cannot support.
