Shot Angle — The Stairwell Theory and a Claimed Muzzle Flash

What This Video Is​

A 1 minute 33 second clip in two halves. The first half is first-person handheld phone footage shot from inside a glass door of the Losee Center at Utah Valley University, looking out at the terraced amphitheatre. The second half is archival event footage, digitally magnified and slowed, with red circles, arrows and caption overlays added. It closes on labelled aerial maps of the Losee Center plaza.

No source account or date is recorded. It is held locally in the South Side Shot folder. The captions are assertive — "IRREFUTABLE PROOF MUZZLE FLASH", "CHARLIE'S TENT WAS HERE", "SHOOTER FIRED FROM HERE", "EASY ESCAPE", "WATCH FOR MUZZLE FLASH", "FBI IS LYING TO US".

What Is Said​

The first half is narrated in a quiet female voice, close to the microphone, describing what she is walking past rather than arguing: "So there's a store right here. It goes out. That's right where he was. You turn around. There's this staircase right here. Exactly where? Shot came from." Then the clip's thesis, stated flatly at about 0:24: "But I guarantee you, he was shot from right here. This is the door."

The second half carries no narration. Its audio is the event's own public-address feed — the questioner asking "Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?", the reply "Counting or not counting gang violence?", the word "Great" — followed by the report and screaming. That exchange is the acoustic anchor point used across many clips in this corpus to line up different angles to the same instant.

So the spoken content amounts to an assertion plus a location. No methodology is offered, no measurement, no comparison against a known muzzle-flash signature.

What The Footage Shows​

  • 0:00 - 0:14 — handheld pan behind a glass door with caption overlays; the camera looks out through the pane at the grassy steps, an arrow marking where the tent stood.
  • 0:14 - 0:24 — tilt up and pan right onto the concrete overhead walkway and a circular staircase, shooting straight into the sun with a heavy ring flare.
  • 0:24 - 0:32 — pan back across the plaza, settling on a door handle captioned "Easy Escape".
  • 0:32 - 0:44 — cut to the rally footage; a red arrow points at the upper-left balcony; the report sounds and the crowd flees.
  • 0:44 - 1:05 — the same fragment replayed at extreme magnification, then at half speed, then at one-tenth speed, held on the railing area.
  • 1:05 - 1:17 — the wider scene replayed at one-tenth speed without magnification.
  • 1:17 - 1:33 — a still of the railing with red circles and summary text, then a split-screen of aerial maps of the plaza with markers.

The first half is genuinely useful and undersold: it is one of the few clips in the corpus that documents the interior-to-exterior geometry of the south stairwell and doors, and the sightline from that door to the tent position. That is checkable.

The second half does not deliver what its captions promise. At the magnifications shown — the on-screen label reaches 177x — a distant railing in a compressed video frame resolves to a handful of coloured blocks. Aggressive upscaling of low-bitrate video reliably manufactures bright transient artefacts, which is exactly what a claimed muzzle flash looks like at that scale. The clip offers no control frames, no comparison against a shot known not to have been fired, and no camera or codec information. "Irrefutable" is the caption's word, not a description of what is visible.
