The provenance chain matters here. This is not original footage from the poster: it is a broadcast segment recorded from a live news programme on or shortly after September 10, 2025, then re-uploaded almost a year later by an account unconnected to the broadcaster. The clip is nonetheless internally datable — it ends with the anchor handing off to a named on-air contributor, which places it inside a live news programme rather than in a compilation.

What Is Said
The anchor throws to a witness on the scene. The witness then says, in sequence:
I turn and look, and they are arresting a guy by the name of George Z[inn]. Yeah, I know the guy. I don't think he did it. I think they arrested the wrong guy. I think whoever did it was a good shooter, a sharp shooter. It was one shot, right directly to the heart. And we need to find out who did this. ... And I don't think it was George Z[inn]. He was poor, broke ... maybe a perfect person to pick and say that did it. But I don't think he did it at all. ... Yeah, I saw when they actually put the handcuffs behind his back.
The segment then cuts away — "we're gonna go to Jason Chaffetz" — which is what confirms this ran inside a live programme.
Three things in that statement are worth separating out.
The identification of the detained man. The witness names George Zinn as the person he saw taken into custody, and says he knows him personally. This is the witness's account. It is consistent with the public record in one important respect: authorities did not charge Mr. Zinn in connection with the shooting, and he faced unrelated counts. Mr. Zinn is a living person, and nothing on this page asserts that he committed any offence in connection with the events at Utah Valley University.
The witness's opinion that the wrong man was detained. "I don't think he did it" and "maybe a perfect person to pick" are stated by the witness as his own belief on live television, minutes after the event, about a man he says he knew. They are reported here as his opinion. The site does not adopt them, and they are not findings.
The wound and shooter description. "A good shooter, a sharp shooter. It was one shot, right directly to the heart." This is the same heart framing that recurs across several independent on-camera interviews from the same window, and it is why this clip sits in this cluster rather than in the section on the detained man. The witness gives no basis for the marksmanship assessment; it is an impression formed on the plaza.
The witness also says publicly that the events warrant investigation. That call is recorded as his, and this page draws no inference from it about what anyone did or did not know.
