The Witness Lineup — Chest on FOX 13, Neck on KSL

What This Video Is​

Seven minutes and eleven seconds of local broadcast news, cut together into a single compilation and posted to X by @CharlotteLee_88 on 2026-06-23. Source post: x.com/CharlotteLee_88/status/2069566053353463951.

It is an edit, not raw footage, and the edit is the argument. Two separate same-day interviews are placed back to back:

  • 0:00 to about 3:42 — a FOX 13 News Utah field interview with a group of witnesses at a street corner near campus. Handheld, traffic passing behind them, on-screen banner "SHOOTING ON UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS."
  • 3:42 to 7:10 — a KSL segment recorded on campus by the fountain, with the first FOX 13 witness appearing in a picture-in-picture window while drone and ground footage of the emptied courtyard plays. She says at the top of it that it has been "a little bit over an hour" since the shooting.

The poster's stated point is that the same witness gives two different wound locations across those two interviews, and that a fourth woman in the FOX 13 lineup describes something different again. That is the poster's framing; the site records it as an open question. Nobody in this compilation is accused of lying, of being coached, or of acting in bad faith. Everyone in it is a private person who agreed to speak to a news crew within an hour of witnessing a killing, and the ordinary effects of shock on recall are the first explanation that has to be weighed. First names are used only because the speakers gave them on camera in a national broadcast.

What Is Said​

The FOX 13 lineup. The reporter asks the group for names and what brought them there. Two students identify themselves; one had classes at UVU that day and went to watch between them, the other came expecting "what I thought would be a civil conversation, and it turned completely different."

Asked what she saw, the first student gives a chest and heart account, and gives it more than once:

I heard a loud bang, which I figured a shot would be a little bit louder, but I just saw it hit him in the chest, and then all of a sudden just tons of blood gushing right out where his heart is, and then he like fell over and slumped down.

Asked whether he moved afterward: "Not at all. I personally believe he was dead on impact." Asked whether there were multiple shots: "Just one shot straight into Charlie Kirk, and that was it." Asked whether she saw who fired: "No, I just knew that it came to the right of me, and went just directly into his heart."

Note the two independent details buried in that last answer, both of which matter elsewhere on this site: she reports a single report, and she places its direction of arrival to her right.

She also describes what was being discussed at the moment of the shot — a student questioner on transgender issues and gun violence — and calls the timing "ironic."

The fourth witness in the same lineup gives a materially different account of the same seconds:

I was watching from pretty close up, and I heard a pop, and I thought, no, that nobody's shooting firecrackers, right? This is the middle of the day. And then I watched a fountain of blood come out of the side of his neck like a water fountain.

Two people standing side by side, minutes apart, describing chest-and-heart and side-of-neck respectively. She adds detail on the aftermath: everyone dropped, she looked for a gunman and saw none, the crowd scattered, and police then cleared the courtyard and taped it off. She also describes law enforcement presence before the shooting — "I saw some on top of the balcony above, and some below" — plus Kirk's own security.

The KSL segment, about an hour later. The same first witness, now interviewed alone, gives a timeline and then a different wound location:

Charlie Kirk came out at about like 12:06 ... they had conversation about like Mormonism and Christianity. And then after that, they had another student step up to talk about transgenderism and the violence and gun violence that's been surrounding that recently. And that is when Charlie Kirk was shot. It was in the neck and I watched the blood just spurt out all over his body as he slumped over and fell down.

She repeats it when the reporter asks how close she was sitting: "I was in the 4th row back. That's when I saw him just get hit right in the neck, lower neck and just blood spurting out all over." She repeats "I believe that he was dead on impact," and adds that she has since been told he is in critical condition.

Her account of the escape is consistent across both interviews — her mother was with her, told them to run, and they crossed the street and waited with a retired law enforcement officer who helped them.

The rest of the KSL interview is about her own state: still shaking an hour later, expecting therapy, describing the day as traumatic. That material is included here only because the poster invited viewers to judge her demeanour from it. This site declines that invitation. Demeanour after a shooting is not evidence of anything, and the reversal in wound location is documented here strictly as a discrepancy in the record.

The 12:06 timestamp she gives for Kirk taking the stage, and her account of the question topic at the moment of the shot, are both independently useful to the timeline work elsewhere on this site.

The B-roll in the second half is worth its own note. Between 5:10 and 5:49 the KSL camera moves through the cleared event area on the ground: a metal security fence, empty chairs, a collapsed "THE AMERICAN COMEBACK TOUR" canopy, and a red baseball cap left on a table. That is same-day documentation of the scene after it was vacated, from a broadcaster rather than a bystander, and it is useful independently of anything the witnesses say. A brief green-screen glitch at about 3:12 is a compression artefact of the compilation, not of the original broadcasts.
