Pellet Gun Man - 'The Other Suspect' Cut

What This Video Is​

One minute forty-nine seconds. This is a captioned repost of the bystander capture, not the raw file. A caption band sits across the top of the frame for the whole running time, with a location and date stamp beneath it. Read off sampled frames it says:

THE OTHER "SUSPECT" WHOSE BEEN ARRESTED. YOU CAN SEE THE "RIFLE" AT THE 1:14 MARK

stamped "Orem, Utah" and "10 Sept 2025." At roughly the one-minute mark a second overlay flashes on reading "that's his rifle" - the uploader subtitling the narrator's own line to make sure it lands.

The scare quotes in the caption are the uploader's, not ours, and they carry weight: whoever cut this was flagging both "suspect" and "rifle" as words they were not prepared to stand behind. No account name is watermarked, so the uploader is unknown.

The "10 Sept 2025" stamp is a caption, not metadata. It matches the day of the assassination, and everything else about the scene is consistent with that day, but the date on screen was typed by whoever made the overlay and should not be treated as verified.

What Is Said​

This cut carries the complete bystander audio - both halves of the narration that other variants split:

I think they just found the guy right outside [...]. Rifle on [this] dude's dash, and they just handcuffed him. Shit.

Do you see his gun? That's his rifle.

The machine transcription stumbles over a word in the first sentence, rendering it "right outside of carry on," which is almost certainly a mis-hearing rather than a place name. Everything else is clear enough.

Read carefully, the narrator makes three separate assertions in about eight seconds, each of which the footage leaves unproven. He says police have "found the guy" - meaning, in context on that afternoon, the person responsible for the shooting at Utah Valley University. He says there was a rifle on a dashboard, which is not something visible anywhere in the clip. And he identifies the long-barrelled object an officer carries past as a rifle.

According to the investigation's own notes on this figure, the item associated with this detention was reported to be a Ruger Yukon Magnum .177 pellet break-barrel air rifle - an air gun. If that is right, the narrator's identification is a good-faith error made at distance, and the caption built on top of it inherits that error.

  • 00:13 - 00:22. The man is secured inside; the rear door closes.
  • 00:22 - 00:33. Close-up through the SUV window, then a pan back to the officers.
  • 00:33 - 01:12. An officer kneels to open a green drawstring bag on the sidewalk and lays its contents out; close-up of gloved hands working through it.
  • 01:12 - 01:15. Pan left to a parked Cannondale bicycle, then right as an officer carries a long gun.
  • 01:15 - 01:36. Zoom out across several marked vehicles with lights running.
  • 01:36 - 01:48. Pan across the street past a bystander filming on his own phone, then back to the officers.

The detained man wears a white t-shirt, dark shorts, bright green shoes and a grey cap. He is compliant and looks down throughout. Vehicle markings read "provo POLICE."

The gap between the caption and the frames is the thing to hold onto. The caption asserts a second suspect in an assassination. The frames show a compliant man being detained and a bag being searched on a sidewalk, in daylight, with no urgency in anyone's movements and no visible connection to the university. The detained man has never been publicly identified and no public evidence ties him to the shooting.
