A Home Demonstration Of A 2.5 Gram Shaped Charge Against A Padlock
What This Video Is
Eighty-one seconds posted to X by the account @troofevades, showing a small shaped charge being built and fired. An on-screen title in the lower left labels it: "Mini 2.5 gram shape charge." Only a hand and forearm are ever visible; there is no presenter on camera and no narration.
The clip carries no speech. Its transcription sidecar contains only speech-recognition filler generated over the silence and the detonation noise, which is a known failure mode when a machine transcriber is pointed at a video with no voice track.
This is a physical demonstration filed as a counterargument. The rigged-microphone thesis rests on assertions about what a shaped charge does and how much explosive it needs, and this video puts an actual device in front of a camera so those assertions can be measured against something.
What The Footage Shows
The sequence is methodical, which is what makes it useful. A hand rotates a small cylindrical cardboard tube to show the hollow interior, then displays a machined copper cone. An extreme close-up shows a white crystalline powder in a glass dish being levelled with a metal spatula. The assembled charge follows: copper cone seated inside the cylinder, the rear packed with the powder, a black fuse extending out the back and three red plastic standoffs fixed to the front.
The target is shown next, a solid brass padlock stamped "HELPING HAND." The camera tilts down to the lock resting on soil with the charge balanced on top on its standoffs. A hand enters with a purple lighter, ignites the fuse and withdraws. The fuse burns, sparking. The charge detonates in a flash with a small cloud of smoke, dust and flying debris.
The last twenty-five seconds are the result: a handheld search across grass and dirt, then the recovered padlock held up to the lens showing a small, clean hole punched through the brass near the stamped logo.
The demonstration establishes a narrow but concrete set of facts. A charge of roughly 2.5 grams, with a copper liner and a standoff distance, punches a small clean perforation through solid brass. It produces a visible flash, smoke and scattered debris. And it does so with a device small enough to sit on a padlock.
What it does not establish is any of the disputed claims in this case. It is a home demonstration with unstated explosive composition, fired in the open at a rigid metal target on the ground. Nothing about it is a model of a body, a microphone housing or the geometry the rigged-mic thesis proposes, and the video makes no such claim. Its evidentiary value is as a physical reference point: this is what the class of device actually does.
