Wooded Area Map — Rifle Recovery and the Same-Morning Arrest

This page is about one map and one timing claim attached to it. The map is the widely-circulated annotated aerial of the UVU campus that news outlets and citizen researchers both use to explain the September 10, 2025 event geography. The timing claim is a reply posted on X in June 2026 arguing that two September 11 events — the announced recovery of the rifle in the wooded area, and a trespass arrest inside the taped-off scene — happened on the same morning.
What the map shows
The map is an overhead satellite view looking across the eastern edge of the campus, with red numbered markers and white arrows drawn on top. The legible labels are:
- "Charlie Kirk" with a marker box on the west side, at the courtyard where the event was held.
- "Where shot was taken" — marker 7, on the structure adjacent to the courtyard.
- Losee Center, Parking garage, and Campus Drive, which orient the rest of the sequence.
- Markers 6 and 8 on the roof and sidewalk immediately below it, and a long arrow east from 8 toward marker 9.
- "Wooded area" — marker 9, on the east side of the roadway, backing onto the residential block.
The sequence runs right to left and back again: markers 2, 3 and 4 come in from the residential streets and parking on the east, cross toward the parking garage, and continue to 5, then to the roof at 6/7, then down and east to the wooded strip at 9. That is the movement path used in the mainstream walkthrough of the case, not an alternative theory — the same numbered graphic appears in press coverage of the campus geography.
What the map is useful for is narrow but real: it shows that the wooded area at marker 9 is a short distance from the roof at marker 7, on the far side of a roadway, and that it backs directly onto residential lots rather than sitting deep in open country. Anything found there was found within a couple of minutes' walk of the shot position and within sight of houses.
The same-morning claim
On June 29, 2026, @Mia_Stretch posted this map as a reply to @DiligentDenizen. Her post reads, in full:
"Russell Kim Kennington was arrested on the same morning (September 11, 2025) that authorities announced finding the weapon in the wooded area That connects to Morgan Vandagriff home."
The reply she was answering asked why Russell Kennington — described in that thread as having been at the scene in medical dress — was released and had the charges dropped without a public explanation.
The checkable half. The timing element can be checked against documents already covered on this site. The Utah court paperwork circulated in July 2026 puts Kennington's arrest at 11:30 AM on 09/11/2025, with a Provo District Court release order signed at 3:35 PM the same afternoon. The public announcement that the rifle had been recovered from the wooded area also came on the morning of September 11, 2025 — see Gun Discovery Sequence for how that recovery unfolded after the earlier K-9 searches. So the two events do fall on the same morning. That is a coincidence of timing, and this page records it as exactly that. It is not evidence of a connection between them, and no agency or court has stated that there is one.
The unverified half. The second sentence — that the wooded area "connects to Morgan Vandagriff home" — is unsourced as posted. No supporting record, address, document, or reporting was offered with it, and no independent source connecting that name to this case was located. This site therefore does not map, locate, or identify any private residence in connection with the wooded area, and makes no suggestion that any resident of the surrounding neighborhood had knowledge of or involvement in the shooting. The claim is recorded here only because it was made publicly, and it is recorded as unverified.
What this settles and what it does not
Maps can rule geometries in or out. This one supports two modest conclusions: the rifle-recovery location was close to the shot position, and it was adjacent to occupied homes rather than isolated. Both are relevant to the standing question of how the weapon was not located during the earlier searches of that strip.
What the map cannot do is establish intent, sequence of custody, or any relationship between the people named in the thread. Tyler Robinson has been charged, not convicted. Russell Kennington was arrested for trespass and released the same day, the charges were later dropped, and this site makes no claim that he committed any crime at UVU or had any knowledge of the assassination.
